Independent game development

Games I grew up with.
Ideas I want to try.

I'm Kevin Mitchell. Tokidoki Studios is where I'm working on my own games, starting with a mix of pachinko and Space Invaders.

Let me know how it plays. I'm working on the roguelite mode first. Enemy movement, the boss, and card balance still need work. If something feels off or an enemy gets stuck, leave a comment on itch.io.

What's changed
in v0.0.22

I've been working on enemy movement and making the run easier to read. Here's what's changed since v0.0.16.

  • New 2 HP triangles pause for a 0.45-second warning, then dash through pegs without breaking them.
  • Blue XP motes travel toward the RUN XP bar when you earn XP.
  • The wider Upgrade Hub gives your collection more room, with more cards across on wider screens.
  • Card choices and run results are clearer, so it's easier to see what you're picking and how the run went.
  • Clearer effects settings make it easier to adjust the presentation.
  • Dash still defaults to holding LT / L2 / ZL plus a direction.

The loop is still nine waves and a boss. I'm still tuning movement and card balance, so let me know how it plays on itch.io.

About
Tokidoki Studios

I'm Kevin Mitchell, and Tokidoki Studios is the name I use for my game projects. I'm taking ideas from games I enjoy and seeing what I can make out of them.

Pachinvaders grew out of Cellular Barrage, a game-jam project. It's become the main thing I'm working on, with smaller experiments alongside it.
